In this two and a half hour beginners workshop, Amie Krug of Boriya & Co, will teach you the history of macrame and four basic knots to make your own macrame plant hanger! These space-saving hangers are perfect for urban living and enlivening any space. We will also cover topics such as: measuring rope for future projects, where to source rope and answer all of your knotting questions with hands-on help.

You will learn about the history of macramé, as well as the therapeutic benefits of textile and fiber arts. By the end of the session, you will understand the major knots involved in macramé project design and you will leave with a beautiful wallhanging ready to adorn your home or give as a gift.

  • 10" wooden embroidery hoop

Macrame Table Runners at The Craftsman & Apprentice

Come join Amie from Boriya & Co on Sunday, November 3 from 10am-1pm to learn how to create a beautiful macramé table runner for your holiday table. This class will introduce students to the essential macramé knots and give them the foundation to start creating their own pieces. We will be crafting runners long enough to fit a 6′ table with the finished product 8-10′ long depending on the knots you decide to use! This is a creative and fun class that will give you the basic skills to create a macramé work of art while getting inspiration from Amie and your fellow classmates.       

All macramé supplies for your table runner and instruction will be provided. Light brunch and coffee will be served.

Instructor: Amie Krug is a fiber artist currently living and working in Denver. She received her BFA in art from Palm Beach Atlantic University, and developed a love for textile design during her years spent in Rajasthan, India. After spending three summers as a river guide on the Arkansas, she repurposed her knotting skills to create artistic and utilitarian pieces. Amie has taught macramé workshops in the Denver area since 2015, and recently had her first solo exhibition in Buena Vista entitled "Rivers Edge."

   In this three hour beginners workshop, Amie Krug of Boriya & Co, will teach you the history of Macramé and all the essential knots to make your own macrame plant hanger! We will also cover topics such as: measuring rope for future projects, where to source rope and answer all your knotting questions with hands-on help. 

      Each workshop attendee will receive a fun goody-bag with all the supplies necessary to craft your plant hanger! Everyone generally completes their piece in class, or at least makes great progress!

     Macrame is a meditative craft so feel free to get caught up in it and quiet your mind, have a fun date night, bring a friend or enjoy getting to know your neighbor! All levels of craftiness and people are welcome (18+).

This class requires one skein of Jersey Be Good T-Shirt Yarn (we will use approx. 33 yards). Feel free to bring your own pot along to fit into your hanger if you’d like to do so (6-12” diameter). Please BYOWB (bring your own water bottle).

Macrame Wallhangings at The Craftsman & Apprentice

Join us at The Craftsman & Apprentice for a macrame morning. In this 3-hour beginner's macrame workshop, you will learn several knots and macrame techniques for creating a unique, beautiful macrame wall hanging! We will briefly learn the history of macrame while delving into crafting your own. By the end of the class, you will complete and take home a wall hanging, along with the knowledge and skills to continue your macrame practice at home. In the modern macrame style, we will utilize cotton cord and wooden dowels but you are also free to bring a found stick or salvaged piece of driftwood to use in your customized macrame wall hanging.

Price: $75

In this three hour beginner's workshop, Amie Krug of Boriya & Co, will teach you the history of macrame and four basic knots to make your own hanging macrame fruit basket! These space-saving hangers are perfect for urban living and holding produce.

We will also cover other topics such as: measuring rope for future projects, where to source rope and answer all your knotting questions with hands-on help. 

Materials Required:

2 bundles of 5MM Modern Macrame Cotton Rope or 132' of any cord

Bring your own baskets along to fit into your hanger if you’d like to do so (10-15” diameter). Please bring a water bottle and a snack to munch on while you craft.
